Balancing East and West

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient practice that encourages the body to activate its own healing abilities. Acupuncture involves the use of very fine needles at points along the body’s energetic pathways, called “meridians”. These meridians reflect the frequency at which life-giving energy in the body is vibrating. The energy, in turn, is a refection of one’s essence and the ability to fulfill one’s destiny.

When disease or illness is present in the body, the energy frequency in the body changes. For example, pain, either emotional or physical, is one indicator that the energy frequency of the meridians is changing and that energy is restricted somewhere in the body.  Acupuncture is used to fine-tune that energy frequency and serves as a probe to stimulate the body to balance itself.

The Acupuncture Meridian System

By knowing and understanding how to make use of the complete meridian system of acupuncture, you can treat a vast array of illnesses. The primary meridians are used to treat both acute and chronic conditions. Most acupuncturists use the primary meridian system, which is quite sufficient for many issues. But in addition to the primary meridians, there are also the luo vessels, divergent meridians, extraordinary vessels and the sinew meridians.  All of these meridians make up the complete meridian system, allowing the patient more treatment options.

The luo vessels are used to treat emotional issues such as restlessness and irritability. The luo vessel treatments assist the patient in getting to the source of these emotions and letting them go. Working on these meridians/vessels can help a person in their journey of self-awareness and thus, in their journey of healing.

The divergent meridians are used to treat chronic pain, including low back pain, sciatica, numbness and spasms, abdominal pain, chronic respiratory conditions and autoimmune conditions. Working with the divergent meridians of the body can help break the cycle of pain and address chronic issues of inflammation.

The extraordinary vessels (ancestral meridians) are used to treat inherited illnesses, addictions and chronic conditions where the source is due to deep-rooted traumas.

The sinew meridians are used to address pain of an acute nature, such as muscular, back, head and joint pain less than three months old. The sinew meridians are also used to treat acute flare-ups of chronic pain.

The Center for Metabolic Wellness uses the complete acupuncture meridian system to assist you in restoring your health.
